Calypso Cafe to open East Nashville location

By Dana Kopp Franklin Staff Writer, courtesy of The Tennessean

Calypso Cafe, the popular locally owned chain serving Caribbean-style cuisine, will open its fifth Nashville-area location on Gallatin Road in east Nashville.
The company's owners, Phil and Alison Brooks, are purchasing the building at 301 Gallatin Rd. that formerly housed Payless Shoes. Their managing partner at the new store is restaurant veteran Rebecca Burney.

Phil Brooks said he's targeting Jan. 1 as an opening date, but it could be as early as Dec. 1. Hours are still being determined but the cafe will probably serve lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Calypso Cafe, or Couva Calypso Cafe as the company is officially known, has locations on Elliston Place, Thompson Lane and Harding Pike in Nashville and Frazier Drive in Cool Springs. It has also opened locations in Murfreesboro and Knoxville.
