Eastwood Neighborhood Conservation Zoning Overlay Signed Into Law

The Eastwood Neighborhood Conservation Zoning Overlay passed the third reading of the Metro Council on Tuesday, April 15th. Mayor Karl Dean signed the legislation on Wednesday, April 16th and it became effective on Friday, April 18th, 2014. Effective Friday, April 18th, Codes will route all demolition, new construction, and building addition permits requested for properties within the new Overlay boundaries to the Metro Historic Zoning Commission for review. Permits that were pulled prior to the effective date are still valid. Building permits are valid for up to six months.

Neighbors are encouraged to monitor the Metro Historic Zoning Commission monthly hearing agendas to learn whether any items in their vicinity are up for a public hearing. MHZC hearings take place the third Wednesday of every month. Agendas can be found at www.nashville.gov/mhc.
